Hail to the Wind

2024

[in the dry arid desert, a tired and lost wanderer – the wind sits in despair, and thus, learns the secrets of Dharm]

To a friend,

Drift and make a path you love

And pave a way through bliss and glee

A road awaits you through the sun

And shining sand and beads of sea

You fly in air in playful stroll

Awake in arid thundering road

A wake you leave like ship in drying storm

But change what did today?

Change what did today my friend

For rest you do on shining rock

On twigs of dry bush

Smaller than the grip of your mighty shoe

Why rest today my friend? Your path awaits you.

Of time you sang like passing brook

Of time you sang like a growing tree

Your song with words of power such

Why do both your lips today firmly touch?

In despairing emotion, in broken trust

You know not tomorrow through which path you go

And yet you sit, like a stubborn child

Who lost his toy, thus, lost his wild

Leave this clutch my dear friend

We need you.

Of many a days I have sat as old

With hope for wisdom, seen the world unfold

Seen the reign of peace, and wars untold

A great desert am I, for I am one with time

And I sing to you today.

Love resides in your every glide

Formless winds with the power to guide

Extinguishing the raging fires in the wanderer's soul

Soar through your playful day

This is your way

This is your way and silent you sit

In a world of hope an unprecedented shift?

A realm of wonders, a path of your own

And you lie in stillness weary and torn

Why in frozen time tired you grow?

For tomorrow what may happen, you may never know

Until the path you paved is walked

The one you choose

The one you choose today.

I am vast

I am one with time

I live stories of many shapes, of many rhymes

And the pattern of this world

A universal truth

Is only understood by me and fools

For everyone is alike and has a path

That somewhere must end and somewhere must start

Even I, the desert so wise

Must return to the earth one final sunrise

A foolish thought isn't it?

The universal truth and eternal bliss

Its simple, dear friend, it's hard to miss

For only a fool, with the freest thought can see this path

Until he starts again

I tell you a story of Dharm

So that you may once again flow so freely

A beautiful destiny, every path intertwined

The sun and the moon, wind and sea.

You and me

The tale of Earth

Many a rising sun he sees

A stone so firm in the earth

Watches lives unfold in meagre time

Watches many a setting sun

It lives out its life in solitary peace

Not a soul to turn

Not a path to seize

And with timeless faith it slowly wears

And returns to its solid ground

If not for the patient stillness

Which the stone did wield

The sandy shores, the vast fields

The foundation of life would not exist

Until another brave stone once again rests.

The tale of Water

The tale of water in gushing stream

Of cotton drops, like radiant sunbeams

Refresh the thirsty soil

But when the gleeful water rests

In stagnant mud and marshy puddle

The gleeful refresh, the freedom lost

The water rests, but at what cost?

What of its path, ever so free

Which it must complete to return to the sea

But destiny awaits, it rises in wind

Until it gushes again.

The tale of Fire

I call upon a great candidate

Which devours through, its path untamed

It lives in royalty, to ashes it burns

A great fire causing worlds to churn

But it must too extinguish into the night

The great fire that emerged from a spark ever so bright

Leaving fertile soils behind.

A beautiful pattern emerges before me

The one I call life

And governing it lie

The paths of strife

The tales of love

Of tireless nights

Many a stagnant puddle I have seen.

Many a diverted, lost streams

Tales of untamed fury that burned

But when we follow the path Dharm

Even the biggest challenges do turn

For it is their Dharm, it is their way

So, rise my friend, soar through the day.

It is your life, it is your way

It is your way.

Although it sounds just like it

I am forcing you not

To strive for a path

Which is resisted by your own thoughts

But rather I aim to help you learn

The simple purpose of Dharm.

Dharm is not a path god laid

But a feeling within, to follow your way

The clay that you may mould

A destiny of yours it cannot be sold

For when we rise, as the elements do

When we fall into endless fights

When we pray among the gentle lights

Together we stand, as a world again

A strength untold, all of us blend

Into a harmony existing in our individual truths

Our duties fulfilled so that us and our youth

May live in peace, live their own path in trust

Until they rise again, never apart are they thrust

Together they bring a world of peace

The fire exists, when the earth still grows

The water rises, through the wind that flows

The earth and water give rise to life

And the fire and wind create its unceasing light

Rise my friend, for we are the fools

We live together, unbound by rules

Through an upliftment of life

An interdependence we see

Now, my friend, you believe me?

Oh great wind

Be free!

We tend to forget

That we are not alone

We are part of an eternal combined soul

We rise from the same soil

Burn in the same flame

Flow to the same ocean

We have a purpose, and a code of conduct

A reason to exist, that we ourselves find

When we let go of fear and free our minds!

And allow us to flow back to the sea

Or grow into a patient tree

And live and die until our purpose is met

Look within, never again will you fret

Look within, find yourself

For you are your master on a path of love.

Rise again, find your Dharm my wandering friend

For what is a beginning and what is the end

Until we live our destiny through and through

And set ourselves free

Rise again wind, cross over me!
